Public Notice Modernization Bill

GOOD NEWS - Legislation to modernize public notice requirements, S-4654/A-5788 was released from both the Senate and Assembly Budget Committees this week and is scheduled for final floor votes on Monday. The measure is expected to pass, and the Governor is anticipated to sign it into law.

Starting March 1, 2026, local governments will be required to post legal notices on their official websites. For the 2026 calendar year, they must also publish a twice-monthly newspaper notice that includes a link to their official notices webpage, ensuring a smooth transition.

NJCM thanks Senate President Scutari, Senator Bucco, and Assemblyman Schnall for advancing this important legislation and urges mayors to contact their legislators and ask for a YES vote on S-4654/A-5788.
