The weather cooperated this year for NJCM’s Annual Mayor’s Day at the Beach. More than 80 mayors, Business Council members, sponsors and exhibitors enjoyed the beautiful Ocean View Restaurant located right on Seaside Heights famous boardwalk, while networking and having fun visiting with each other. The beautiful, warm and sunny day encouraged walks on the beach and boardwalk, despite the red flags warning us to keep out of the water because of the danger of rip tides. A special thank you to Seaside Heights Mayor Anthony Vaz who helped us locate the venue for our event and warmly welcomed the NJCM to his lovely seaside community.
Our featured speaker, NJDEP Commissioner Shawn LaTourette provided a broad overview of services, programs, and grant opportunities that his department can offer to municipalities. In addition, he spoke about the approach the department will be taking with the Coastal Flood Hazard Rules. The rules are expected to be proposed in the near future.
